As public health officials reckon with the deluge of coronavrius cases at Visalia’s Redwood Springs nursing home, it faces a new outbreak at a nursing home.

Tulare County has another coronavirus outbreak at a nursing facility.

This time, it’s at the Lindsay Gardens Nursing and Rehabilitation Facility.

The county’s public health branch announced Wednesday that 11 residents have tested positive for COVID-19.

This comes in addition to the ever-growing issues at Redwood Springs Healthcare Center, which has 148 reported cases and eight fatalities.

As of Wednesday afternoon, there are 352 total positive cases in Tulare County, and 15 of those individuals have passed away.

Lindsay Gardens administration contacted the public health branch immediately after observing symptomatic residents and getting them tested, the branch said in a press release.

“At this time, Tulare County Public Health staff are working actively with Lindsay Gardens and the CDPH Healthcare-Associated Infection program on ensuring they understand the guidelines for caring for COVID-19 patients and appropriately keeping them separate from the residents who are non-symptomatic,” the branch said. “Additionally, hospital-associated infection control has been informed and began an initial investigation as soon as the facility reported the first positive case.”

State and county personnel are at the facility on Wednesday to conduct a site visit related to infection prevention.
