Bobby Salazar leans into arson case with new restaurant ads: “They’re fire.”

The Fresno restaurateur and salsa king isn’t afraid to court controversy after Federal charges of arson stacked up.

Fresno restaurateur Bobby Salazar seems to be unconcerned about his federal arson case, if his latest marketing moves have anything to say about it.

In his own words, Salazar is seemingly leaning into the case, noting how his restaurant’s menu items are “fire.”

What he’s posting: In the video, Salazar answers a phone to apparently take an order.

  • “What fire? Oh, you mean our tamales? Yeah, they’re fire,” Salazar said. “They taste fire. Our tacos are fire, our party trays – they’re just fire, all our party trays. Yeah, you want it delivered – Fresno Unified? You got it.”

The backstory: Salazar has pleaded not guilty to federal arson and mail fraud charges following his arrest earlier this year.

  • Federal prosecutors accused Salazar of hiring a motorcycle gang member to burn down one of his restaurants in central Fresno last year.
  • Salazar allegedly received a $980,000 insurance payout through the mail for the restaurant.
  • He also allegedly used the restaurant as collateral for a $500,000 loan in February 2024, which he used to purchase a condo in the Bay Area and to pay taxes. He then used the insurance payout to pay back the loan.
