Subway has appointed former Burger King executive Jonathan Fitzpatrick as its CEO starting July 28, aiming to boost sales and facilitate global expansion.
The big picture: Fitzpatrick previously served as the president and CEO of Driven Brands, an automotive services firm, and held various leadership roles at Burger King.
- The private equity firm Roark Capital acquired Subway about two years ago for up to $9.55 billion, including debt.
- Fitzpatrick takes over from John Chidsey, who resigned at the end of the previous year after five years as CEO.
- During the transition period, Fitzpatrick will collaborate with interim CEO Carrie Walsh.
