Bulldogs to wear new white and green ag-inspired uniforms

Fresno State will wear the special uniforms during a whiteout against Utah State.

Building on a tradition that started under former head coach Pat Hill, Fresno State football will debut new uniforms to honor the Central Valley’s agriculture industry.

The Bulldogs will wear the uniforms on Nov. 22 when they host Utah State.

The big picture:; Fresno State revealed new white uniforms highlighted with green numbers.

  • The program is asking fans to wear white to match the team, with the game being billed as a “whiteout.”
  • The green numbers will have farm imagery that will be uniquely integrated into each uniform, with every single uniform slated to be unique. The imagery will feature art representing fruits, nuts, vegetables and livestock.
  • Along with the white jerseys and pants, the uniforms will also feature a white helmet that moves the iconic Green V to each side of the helmet.

The backstory: Hill tapped into the Valley’s rich agricultural history by placing the Green V on the back of the helmets in 1997, where they have remained ever since.

What they’re saying: “The Red Wave is one of the most passionate fan bases in the country, and so much of that pride comes from the Valley’s agricultural roots,” said head coach Matt Entz. “The Green V has always meant something here. This jersey is a tribute to the hardworking people who make the Central Valley what it is. We represent them when we step onto the field, but on an even deeper level on Nov. 22 in these new uniforms.”

  • “Being from the Valley, I’ve seen firsthand how vital agriculture is to the Central Valley. It’s what makes this place so special, not just locally, but around the world,” said senior kicker Dylan Lynch, an agricultural business major from Liberty High in Bakersfield. “Getting the opportunity to play for Fresno State is something I’ll always be grateful for. Now, having the chance to wear these jerseys and represent the ag community of Bakersfield and the surrounding areas is truly a special honor. It will be an exciting night.”
