Bulldogs are going bowling. Where are they going? Who’s coaching?

The Bulldogs are going bowling in Boise, Idaho this winter.

After a consistently inconsistent season, the 6-6 Fresno State Bulldogs are officially going bowling.

Sunday, the ‘Dogs learned that they’ll be visiting a familiar locale for their bowl game this season – Boise – for the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl.

Driving the news: The ‘Dogs will take on the Northern Illinois Huskies (7-4, 4-4 in-conference) at Boise State’s Albertson’s Stadium.

  • The two squads will take the field on Dec. 23, at 11:30 a.m. Pacific. The game will be nationally televised on ESPN.
  • The 2024 Famous Idaho Potato Bowl will be Fresno State’s sixth showdown with NIU, with the Huskies leading the series at 3-2. Fresno State last took on NIU in Boise at the then-dubbed Humanitarian Bowl, losing 40-17 in 2010.
  • Fresno State last defeated NIU by 55-7 in a Sept. 1991 thumping at Bulldog Stadium.

Who’s coaching? Tim Skipper, Fresno State’s interim head coach, will lead the transfer portal-depleted Bulldogs in the Boise-based bowl game.

  • Skipper helmed the Bulldogs during last year’s New Mexico Bowl game as acting head coach when then-head coach Jeff Tedford exited due to health issues.
