Madera County’s Riverstone community is adding a Raley’s to its major retail expansion.
Raley’s, the Sacramento-based grocer, will anchor Riverstone’s 61,000 square-foot retail space along the Riverwalk development.
The big picture: The new grocery store will be branded as a Raley’s ONE market and will span 40,000 square feet.
- The market will have fresh prepared food, natural and organic products, locally sourced produce and a cafe.
What we’re watching: Riverstone plans to begin construction on the Raley’s early next year and is scheduled to open it in the spring of 2027.
What they’re saying: Riverstone developer Tim Jones said the partnership with Raley’s represents a major step in enhancing the lifestyle and amenities available to residents of the Central Valley.
- “As a high-quality, community-focused grocer, Raley’s is the perfect fit for our growing community,” Jones said. “This new store won’t just serve our residents – it will become a destination for the surrounding region, offering convenient access to healthy, fresh food and a shopping experience that reflects the values and lifestyle we’re building here in Riverstone.”
- Madera County Supervisor Jordan Wamhoff, who represents the Riverstone area, said the arrival of Raley’s marks the beginning of a new era of growth and convenience for the community.
- “For more than seven years, Riverstone has grown into a thriving residential hub, yet the lack of nearby retail options meant families had to travel miles just to meet their basic shopping needs. That changes today,” Wamhoff said. “Raley’s isn’t just a grocery store – it’s a catalyst. This is the spark that will ignite additional development, attract new businesses, and bring the services and amenities our families have been waiting for.”
- Wamhoff credited Jones for his work to build out Riverstone and thanked Raley’s for believing in Madera County.
- “This is only the beginning,” Wamhoff said. “With Raley’s as the anchor, we anticipate a wave of exciting retail, dining, and service options coming soon. Many letters of intent from other retailers have already been submitted to the development and they are working through the process. Riverstone and the greater surrounding area is no longer just a great place to live – it’s becoming a complete destination, and we are very excited for the future.”
