The Kings County Board of Supervisors has appointed a new fire chief.
The big picture: John Chamberlin has been appointed the County Fire Chief and took over on Monday.
- As the county fire chief, he will oversee comprehensive fire protection, emergency medical response, rescue operations and the Office of Emergency Services.
Driving the news: Chamberlain received a bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration from California Coast University and a professional degree from the National Fire Academy.
- He has worked in different fire department roles since 1993, starting as a fire dispatcher in Victorville then as a firefighter and paramedic in Adelanto.
- Following that, Chamberlain worked as an engineer, captain, battalion chief, division chief, assistant chief and Deputy Fire Chief of Administration for the San Bernardino County Fire Protection District for nearly 30 years.
- Chamberlin’s most recent job was as the Fire Chief of the Buckskin Fire District.
