Poverello House among recipients of ALL RISE Foundation grant

While Aaron Judge is leading Major League Baseball on the field, he is also giving back to Fresno and other communities.

New York Yankees Captain Aaron Judge is supporting the Poverello House in Fresno through his ALL RISE Foundation.

The Poverello House was one of four nonprofits to receive a mini-grant from the ALL RISE Foundation in May.

The big picture: The ALL RISE Foundation is giving $3,000 as part of its mini-grant program to the Poverello House, the HomeMore Project in San Joaquin County, The Angellyh Yambo Foundation in the Bronx, New York and PS58 The School of Heroes in the Bronx.

  • All funds donated to the mini-grant program go directly to children and youth programs in San Joaquin County, Fresno County and Bronx County.

Zoom in: The Poverello House provides shelter programs for the homeless in the Fresno area.

  • The mini-grant donation will help provide enrichment workshops for children that focus on science, arts, reading, teamwork and basic life skills.
  • The Poverello House will recruit and train volunteers to help with youth programming and provide mentoring to children. Funding will also provide basic materials and supplies for activities, such as art kits, books, learning games, sports equipment and healthy snacks for children.
  • The HomeMore Project helps the homeless in San Joaquin County and gives them the Makeshift Traveler backpack, which has a solar panel with a battery pack and a USB charging port, a sleeping bag, poncho, radio, flashlight and a brochure for social services. Funding will provide those backpacks for homeless youth.
  • The Angellyh Yambo Foundation will use the funding to help high school students explore their neighborhoods and identify challenges such as litter, neglected public spaces and safety concerns.
  • Funding for PS58 The School of Heroes will go toward its Building Future Heroes Through Baseball after-school program that integrates leadership development with baseball fundamentals.

What he’s saying: “ALL RISE Mini-Grants continue to provide activities that encourage confidence, teamwork and decision-making tools that align with the ALL RISE Mission. Whether experiencing homelessness, in need of additional educational support, or engaging in opportunities to build up their neighborhoods, I am pleased that these programs are growing students to reach their greatest potential,” says Aaron Judge, Founder of ALL RISE Foundation.
