Fresno County and Valley leaders, led by Clovis Mayor Pro Tem Diane Pearce, railed against the California Interscholastic Federation’s decision – backed by Gov. Gavin Newsom – to allow a biological male to compete against females in a trio of track and field events during this week’s State Track and Field Championship in Clovis.
Pearce, with backing from State Sen. Shannon Grove (R–Bakersfield) and Congressman Vince Fong (R–Bakersfield), was joined at a press conference on Thursday by Asm. David Tangipa (R-Clovis), Supervisors Garry Bredefeld and Nathan Magsig, Clovis Mayor Vong Mouanoutoua, Councilman Drew Bessinger, and Clovis Unified trustees Tiffany Stoker-Madsen and Deena Combs-Flores.
