Clovis names new Assistant City Manager

The new Assistant City Manager is not new to Clovis, having been with the city for decades.

Paul Armendariz has been named the Assistant City Manager for Clovis after serving in an interim capacity.

The big picture: Armendariz brings two decades of experience working for the city into his new role, including 10 years with the Planning and Development Services Department and 10 years with the Public Utilities Department.

  • When he was the Deputy Director of the Public Utilities Department, Armendariz was responsible for water distribution and treatment, wastewater collection and treatment, parks, trails, city landscaping and the operation and  maintenance of traffic signals and city-owned street lighting.
  • Armendariz attended Clovis Unified schools growing up and earned a degree in Civil Engineering from Fresno State. He is a licensed professional engineer in California.

What we’re watching: Armendariz will officially start in his new role on June 1.

What they’re saying: “I am truly honored to serve as Assistant City Manager for Clovis. As a proud resident, I deeply appreciate the opportunity to contribute to our community’s growth and wellbeing,” Armendariz said. “I sincerely thank the council for this appointment and am eager to collaborate with city staff, local businesses and residents to cultivate a thriving, vibrant community that enhances the quality of life for everyone who calls Clovis home. I am grateful to City Manager Andrew Haussler for entrusting me with this role and look forward to working alongside him to support our city.”

  • Haussler called Armendariz a proven leader with experience.
