Chukchansi Gold Resort & Casino is now offering a special version of craps, the first casino in the Central Valley to do so.
Chukchannsi announced that it is offering California Craps, which uses cards instead of dice in the classic game.
The big picture: Dice games are illegal in California because they are considered games of chance, while the state only allows games of skill at its tribal casinos. That means the traditional craps game is not offered across the state.
- But California craps includes a combination of dice and cards to comply with state law.
- The game uses six cards numbered one to six that are shuffled and randomly placed at certain spots on the gaming table. A player rolls two dice, as one would do in typical craps, but the roll indicates which cards are chosen. The cards determine the outcome, not the dice, making the game legal.
- California Craps also features the same bets that are used in regular craps, including Pass Line, Come and Field.
What they’re saying: “This game brings the thrills of craps to California players in a way that’s accessible, exciting and completely unique,” said Alan Marrandino, Table Games Director at Chukchansi. “It’s a new take on a fan favorite, and we can’t wait to debut it at Chukchansi.”
