Supervisor Perez’s husband arrested

Fernando Jara allegedly made threats against someone at the supervisor’s home.

Kern County Supervisor Leticia Perez’s husband Fernando Jara was arrested at their home on Saturday. 

Jara was booked into the Kern County jail on one felony count of making threats with intent to terrorize. 

The big picture: Jara was arrested at 3:18 p.m. on Saturday and booked into jail at 5:05 p.m. 

  • His bail was set at $100,000. 
  • Jail records showed that he was not released as of Monday afternoon. 

What we’re watching: Jara is scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday at 3 p.m. for a hearing. 

Driving the news: According to reports, Bakersfield police responded to a call for a welfare check at Perez’s and Jara’s home. 

  • Officers said Jara allegedly threatened people at the home and refused to exit the house before being taken into custody.
